We're all open to new experiences
and one of the best way to try something a little out of the ordinary is to eat
something a little different. Human beings seem to have had a go at putting everything
into their mouths at one stage or another, leading to some tasty results - however,
we're not condoning you eating a little bit of canine.
There's plenty out there to
try that's a little more mainstream, though you may just have not had the opportunity
to swallow. That's why we've decided give you some foods to aim for and we advise
you to give the foods below a try before you die.
Steak
Tartare
Those of us with a traditional
pallet don't particularly love the thought of raw meat and have even put sushi off
our personal menus until recently. However, this dish of prime minced beef, mixed
with mustard, capers, anchovies, pepper and topped with a raw egg is one to definitely
get your taste buds tingling. It's a velvety food, that is more taste ridden than
any steak you've ever eaten. Untouched by flame, but amazing all the same - it must
be tried once and deal of the day site's such as Living Social often offer the chance
to try this food.
Lobster
Cooking and killing your own
lobster is a fantastic way to have a meal. They do often give the advice that you
shouldn't eat anything you can't kill and in the case of a lobster this is especially
true. Lobsters have to be taken out alive and killed there and then to ensure they
are fresh enough to give the best flavour. Of course, the food itself is beautifully
luxurious and meaty and something for those special occasions, or when gotten witha
great deal from Livingsocial.co.uk.
Tomato
Now we're not saying it should
merely be a tomato - we're talking about you growing your own before you eat it.
Growing your own food is exciting and tomatoes are among the easiest to aid in our
climate. The results however are spectacular. When you eat your own tomato you can
see why. The labour and the end result are directly related and there is a sumptuous
sweetness in home grown tomatoes nothing else can match. Home grown tomatoes are
all sunshine and prove the best food is the type where no shortcuts are taken.
Natto
Though it looks like a misspelt
word and on when you hear it's fermented soya beans you may think it's a mistake,
Natto is amazing. The beans may be smelly and have to be stirred until frothy with
a chop stick, however they offer one of the most unique tastes on the planet. The
aftertaste is so strange, but still desirable you'll keep eating until the beans
are gone and the plate is clean - a strange and wonderful food.
Handmade
Pasta
Like tomatoes mentioned above
- making your own pasta is something that has to be done. It is an art and mastering
it can take time, but it certainly is worth it and offers an amazing taste. In fact,
you just add some salt, pepper and olive oil and perhaps a little parmesan and you've
a meal. No need for meat, sauce or anything else - great homemade pasta is a complete
dish.
Bone
Marrow
Though it may not seem appealing,
bone marrow offers one of the most heavenly flavours on the planet. This is pure
meat and when melted to the right degree and salted correctly is more satisfying
than any steak. Its consistency is gloop, meaning it coats your whole mouth in flavour.
Escargot
Snails to the rest of us none
French speaking folk are something that destroy our greens. However, eating them
with garlic butter is something to be tried at the very least, once in a lifetime.
They're tender and luxurious and are best served with a nice piece of garlic butter
covered bread.
