You may not realise it but you probably are paying over the
odds for your mobile phone contract and may possibly be able to get one that
will see out the remainder of your contract for a lot less.
Negotiating is the perfect way to get a better mobile phone
deals and save hundreds of pounds a year on your handset.
Research
the deals out there
Look elsewhere before you decide on negotiating your deal. Compare
mobile phones and the current amount of minutes you receive with
that of other network providers. It's highly likely that if your contract is a
year older or more you can negotiate the best mobile phone deal.
Then let rip - here's a transcript of how to negotiate a deal
on the phone to your network.
ME: "Hello, I'm really eager on staying with Vodafone,
but it seems one of your competitors is offering a great deal for only €20 a
month and I'm currently paying €30 for far less minutes and a smaller data
allowance. I know I'm a valuable customer and have been with you for 3 years
now. Can you offer me the same deal for €15 a month?
Vodafone: "Erm......What deal are you on?"
Me: "I've 200 minutes and 400 texts a month, but your
competitor is offering twice that at the moment and it's very tempting."
Vodafone "I don't think we can do that. Would 300
minutes and 400 texts for €25 a month be okay for you?"
Me: "No I don't think that's anywhere near your
competitors deal and unless we can compromise I may have to ask for my PUK
number and leave."
Vodafone: "Let me ask my supervisor. (Wait some time).
My supervisor says that I can offer you 400 minutes and 600 texts for €17 and
we'll credit your account by €100 - how does that sound.
Me:" I do some mental maths and realise I've got a good
deal, don't have to change and end up paying far less than originally.
"That's fine, thank you, I'll go with that."
I then looked at my calculator and saw that over the next
period of 12 months I would save hundreds of euros on my mobile phone bill, all
through a renegotiation of my contract for my mobile phone in Ireland. Getting
the best mobile phone deal is about being
savvy and canny when negotiating.
Never feel pressurised to disconnect and if the network
plays hardball and asks if you'd like to disconnect, then just say you'll think
about it and call back at a later date with a different game plan.
Also remember that it is your right to haggle your way to
the best price and mobile phone deal, otherwise the network is making
unnecessary profit at your expense. This is the case for all networks, so
always be aware of this when looking for the best deal on a service or an item,
including mobile broadband.
Finally, networks want to hold on to customers as they are
feeling the pinch as much as you are. Use this to your advantage when you
compare mobile phone networks.
