Understanding How to Pick a Mobile Phone

Though it's easy to advise a person to choose a certain phone; simply understanding what to look out for when choosing a device can make the whole process a lot easier. Processor

The processor or the brains of the mobile phone is a very important part of the device. This is often split into two categories as a rough guide. The first one is processor speed and is measured in clock speed known as megahertz or gigahertz. The second is cores; this is essentially the number of processors, or brains.

Phones nowadays generally have single, dual (two) or quad cores (four) and then. Obviously, the higher the clock speed and more cores the faster the device. However, you can experience overkill too and there are very few people and currently no applications that really need a quad core processor. Even though, it's extremely desirable, it's just not necessary.

However, we would say look for a phone that has at least 1GHz and if you are expecting to run games and use your phone for a lot of apps, perhaps consider a dual core phone.

Screen

The screen you choose when you pick up mobile phone deals is also very important and there is a wide disparity between the quality of the screens on offer. Some phones use what are known as TFT screens, these are generally available on low cost phones and though they are fine, they are nothing when compared to some of the more spectacular screens other there.

For example the retina display, which is available on the Apple iPhone offers a very high quality screen and a notably large pixel density (number of dots that make up a picture). In a phone comparison there is not similarity between a retina display and a TFT and the iPhone will win hands down.

Some other manufacturers use AMOLED screens - these screens offer fantastic brightness and are perfect for using outdoors as there is little glare. The QHD screen is also a good bet though is perhaps slightly less attractive than the AMOLED or Retina display.

Size

Resolution is also important and you should look for a resolution that's as high as possible, especially with the increasing size of phones.

Many phones offer near 5inch screens, which seems colossal, but dependent on the phone's build and style may not seem as large as you'd expect. Large screens provide great video viewing opportunities but the phone is also less compact because of this.

Slimness is also a significant factor and there is often competition between manufacturers for the slimmest phone. This obviously reduces a phone's in-pocket size, which is something sought after by a lot of people. Of course, deciding on a phone you like the look of is a vital part of phone comparison - so make sure to check them out in-store before committing to buying one.

Operating Systems

Just as with Windows and Mac - choosing an operating system is also an important part of a picking a phone. Android is Google's attempt and available on the majority of phones nowadays. Apple uses something called IOS, which is also excellent. There are also the BlackBerry and Windows operating systems though these don't have as many apps as the aforementioned operating systems and are less common.

Camera

Of course, if you take a lot of photos the camera on your phone is also important - 5mp is quite common nowadays, with many devices having 8mp and some even up to 12mp and above. Check out the sensor the phone has too as this can be important for image quality as can the level of the backlight, especially for those night photos.
