The Olympics are coming and for many people living in and
around London not in a nice way. That's why escaping the madness can be a great
way to kill two birds with one stone. Getting out of London during what are
most likely going to be and extremely frantic time. However, that said you don't
need to even go abroad to go somewhere you can enjoy yourself.
There are plenty of great places in the UK to get out and
about and you may not have been to many of them before. Here are some of our
favourite suggestions.
Edinburgh
Getting to Edinburgh can be done by plane or also by train -
it's in fact one of the nicest train rides you'll do in a while. Why not get
yourself an advance train ticket now and get some Edinburgh deals for a hotel and prepare your escape to the most
English of Scottish cities.
Edinburgh is a beautiful place and when you see the old town
you realise why where much of the inspiration for Harry Potter came from. The
beautiful old buildings and wonderful views of the castle from all around the
town make it a glorious place to just visit and walk around.
However, if you're more inclined to head out and about, it
really is a great place for a night on the town. The city is quite demure until
the weekend when the area of Grassmarket fills up with people looking for some
fun and frolics. Of course, the infamous Fringe festival is also a great time
to visit and take in the culture and also head out and about. It really is a
great city and certainly worth a tip, especially with Edinburgh deals.
Manchester
One of the coolest cities in the country and a great place
if you're looking to receive an introduction to pop culture, coolness and the
general Manc way.
Manchester is of course famed for its music credentials and
so is a great city to catch new bands in. It's also not too far from London,
meaning a quick train up and away from the hustle and bustle of the Olympics. Manchester deals also offer a great way to go low cost to the
city and take advantage of its activities.
Whether you want to come to see a Premiership match, or are
more interested in seeing the famed shopping streets of the city, the Olympics
is the time to come. The city itself also has numerous excellent museums,
including the Imperial War Museum or the Manchester Transport Museum. Both give
an insight into what made this once major industrial city one of the steam
rooms of the Empire. So, whether for football, shopping or culture, get a
Manchester deal and head right on up.
Birmingham
Another midland getaway for those looking to escape the
millions of London visitors the summer is set to hold. Going away to Birmingham
offers a welcome retreat from that of London.
Why not take in some shows or exhibitions at the NEC or see
the city's Art Gallery or Science Museum - both of which are quite impressive.
Of course Cadbury World is also worth a look, especially if you are of the
chocolate loving persuasion.
Birmingham also offers some great shopping centres and the
Bullring is renowned for its array of shops and services - ideal for a quick
weekend break so. The city also has more miles of canal than Venice, as well as
numerous other attractions such as Safari Parks and though inland The National
Sea life centre. Why not use some Birmingham deals to get the best value when
there and save on everything from accommodation to travel.
Getting away from London this year should be at the
forefront of a lot of people's minds so why not take advantage of some of the
Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham deals on offer and have some peace and quiet?
