How to Choose a Phone Contract

Choosing mobile phones and mobile phone deals can take hours. Essentially there are two choices you have to make when picking a phone.

Firstly you have to pick the phone you want, which in itself can take a significant amount of time. Secondly and often more complexly, you also have to pick a phone tariff. This can waste even more hours and more often than not you're still confused at what you receive even when you do pick one.

Fortunately, there is a solution that allows you to get the best mobile phone deal, while also choosing the best mobile phone plan to suit your needs. So, what is the best way to go about choosing a phone?

Plan

Though many of us are blinded by the technology on offer, your plan is far more important than the phone itself. By understanding the number of minutes you need and also the number of texts you send you go a great deal further into understanding what the best plan sign up to is. Take into account the number of minutes you spend a month and then perhaps add ten per cent. Do this with text message allowances as if you have a busier than usual month you won't be as likely to be subject to additional charges as you're less likely to go over.

People often choose a plan based on the phone they want, but end up using only a fraction of the allowance on offer. This is simply a bad idea when looking for a good mobile phone deal and makes for a very expensive package.

Extras

You'd be very surprised at the cost of basic handsets with a decent number of minutes and a reasonable amount of data these days.

Date of course is now another consideration for those looking to purchase a smart phone. Many of us use the Internet and apps when out and about and a data allowance is a necessity if you do this at all. Obviously, the data allowance should fit your usage and there can be large additional costs for going over the limit.

Make sure you know how much you need. If you need a lot, perhaps consider a network provider who offers unlimited data, or a low cost add on for unlimited data. This can ensure you don't get a nasty shock when you see your bill.

Phone

Next compare phones and see which handsets you like from the plan you've chosen. Manufacturers release new phones almost every week and so what was once top of the range often soon becomes outdated. For those of us who want a high performing phone this is good news.

Though phones often are replaced, they are seldom completely obsolete. Meaning that a phone that cost a premium price a few months ago on a poor plan, can often be a lot less in a couple of months time and is a great value buy.

What do you Want?

Think about what you want from a phone. Do you want it to replace the old MP3 player you had, or do you want it to take photos and replace your old digital camera? It's you choice and there's probably a phone to match when you compare mobile phone deals.

Though, many phones come with a lot of high tech gadgetry, much of this trickery is not used. This means that the items are not really of any use to you personally and you may be paying a premium price for something that you don't actually need.

It's always nice to have a super fast processor, but if you only call people on your phone, you probably don't really need it. By considering your necessities and when and why you'd use them, then you will ensure you get the phone you want and at a price you are willing to pay.

Following this advice means you don't pay through the nose for a phone and get the mobile phone deals you want. We assure you there's nothing worse than buying a handset and contract and only using quarter of what is offered. In such a case you're paying 75 per cent over the price - not good value.
